I started seeing green smoothies a few years ago and was immediately curious. So, I did some quick research and the more I read about all of the benefits the more I wanted one. Plus, they just looked like super health in a cup! It wasn’t until I read The Beauty Detox Solution by Kimberly Snyder that I blended my first one. It tasted pretty good, but made me feel really really good. Like I knew it was doing great things for my body…and then eventually I just stopped. I got so sick of prepping and chopping the fruits and veggies into tiny little pieces so that my Magic Bullet could handle it! I actually stopped a lot of healthy habits around this same time and just let stupid excuses take over…
That was three years ago and I’m back on the right track now and back making green smoothies! It’s also taken me that long to listen to the book’s advice and finally get a Vitamix (yay!). What a difference! Even the hubs is drinking his greens! Sorry for all of the exclamation points, but I’m seriously that excited! Or maybe it’s just the green smoothie’s energy boosting effect that’s effecting my punctuation! Okay, I’m done. 🙂
Bottom line is that we’re on Weight Watchers and this filling smoothie is a zero points, has a slimming effect, and is detoxifying so it beautifies our skin along the way! And if this recipe (my go to) is too much for you to start off with, maybe just add a handful of spinach to your normal smoothie for now. I bet you won’t even taste it!
While I’m trying to figure out this whole new eating lifestyle, I’m using activity as my safety net. I may have to look up what foods are on the Power Foods list, but I don’t need any extra knowledge to get this body moving. Lucky for us, the more we move the more we lose (or the more we get to eat…look at it how you want)!
I know Weight Watchers has the ActiveLink and I do own it…I just don’t know where it is. I lost and found it 3 times before putting my contact info on it and still lost it for good. That’s when I stopped going to meetings…and gained the weight back. As suggested, I can’t hook it to my bra or waistline or keep it in my pocket. I guess I shake around too much completely unaware! And I will NOT consider it a fashionable accessory wearing it on a lanyard around my neck. Just…no.
So, after much research, I chose the Polar Loop. It’s a watch/bracelet that tracks activity, calories burned, steps, and time. Bonus: there’s an app for it. While I really wished the digital text was blue (why do I care?! I don’t know), I settled because it stays on my wrist and it’s black so goes with almost all of my outfits. Plus, it’s waterproof so I don’t have to forget to put it on after a shower, get to work, and then sit on my butt all day because I’m not getting “credit” for moving.
For me, this works. I don’t look at the calories, but constantly check out my steps and activity goal progression. My personal goal is 10,000 steps per day, but this guy sets my activity goal a little beyond, which is fine by me. I like being pushed. At the end of the day, I log my steps in the Activity Tracker under “All Day” and watch my activity points grow throughout the week. So freaking easy. I’ve even set myself up with a reward system (which I’ll share soon!) if I meet goal 30 days in a row…although I’m now wishing I said 5 days a week. Whatever your preference though, get an activity monitor! Get credit for that extra movement and feel awesome!
So, the first step in any eating lifestyle change always seems to be to purge the bad foods, right? Let’s see where I’m starting…here is my current pantry:
Don’t judge too harshly, please! I know there are some bad foods in here and I kind of look like I have OCD or too much time on my hands, but really I just like efficiency and saving money. I’ve been a “couponer” for three years now and I think my pantry shows it. Do I look like I like a pastaholic or a hot sauce junkie?? I can’t decide.
I’m excited to watch the transition of this space develop with my new plan and eventually share with you the “after” pic! What do you think I should purge first? I’m thinking the 3 foot stack of Yakisoba meals…yikes!
Welcome! So, Happy Birthday to me and to the launch of this blog! I felt the need for something new in my life and thought there couldn’t be a better time than my birthday to get started. (Side note: I’ve never blogged before so have no clue what I’m doing, but please bare with me)! I want to be healthy SO bad, but I’m one of those people who seriously needs accountability. I joined Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago just for this reason (and started this blog…just for that reason). Two weeks in and 5 pounds down and I’d have to say I’m sold! While my ultimate goal is to go strictly clean eating, Weight Watchers is giving me that first step push I need. I’m not sure in what ways this blog will progress, but I know for now I want to share with you the following;
1. My progress on Weight Watchers including what I eat, tips, and how much weight I’ve lost.
2. How I save money with deals and coupons in food shopping, clothing buying, and all other things in daily life.
3. All the things I do that just make me love life!
I’m one happy girl and I have a lot (too much??) fun, but I’ve got so much more that I want to do while I’m here on Earth! So it’s time to get healthy, save money, and live life longer and to the fullest! I’m so happy you’re here with me. Let’s do this!
