Spending Freeze: Day 25

DAY 25: $1,757.53/ -2.2 lbs

Pretty happy that another week of Body Revolution is over and pretty happy to see a tiny weight loss today!  And really happy it’s Saturday!!

Now, please don’t judge too harshly. I don’t know what happened today, but I feel like we only had coffee and crap. Just being honest.

Breakfast: Coffee and leftover pizza

Lunch: Chicken Sandwiches and Chips

Dinner: Mocha Frappucinos (FREE from Staurbucks) and Five Guys (with a gift card)

Lots of savings today!

First off, we froze our gym memberships. Since we’re doing Body Revolution for the next 2 months and training for a 5-10K, we figured we didn’t “need” the gym for a while. This is saving us $55 per month.

Next, we hopped into Starbucks to see if they’d honor our freebie coupons from yesterday, since they had technical difficulties and closed early. (We found out the problem yesterday was actually nationwide. Yikes)!  The guy said he would try and it worked! He gave us the largest size since they were free…and now we might be up all night.

Finally, we had to get batteries for the hubs that he needed for the equipment for his gig tomorrow. This was an actual “need” but I still couponed it of course.  We headed to CVS, but needed to hit $15 to use my $5 off $15 coupon.  Enter the 90% Easter bin. I can’t believe the hubs found these…

…but he convinced me they would make hilarious gag gifts or whatever. Aaaaand it was kind of like getting them for free since they totaled $5 (marked down from $25 each).  So stupid, but oh well, it made his night!  We only spent $9 on the batteries and somehow our recipe showed this savings:

Which made my night!

The hubs and I had way too much fun going over the budget today.  It sounds so weird to say that, but there’s something about having a plan and the teamwork and the saving that is just really exciting. Not to mention the feeling of security knowing exactly where your money is going. And who wouldn’t be excited about that savings amount up there?!

Now we are super caffeinated and settled in watching Interstellar (thanks, brother)! It’s been a good day.

Spending Freeze: Day 24

DAY 24: $1,693.78/ -2.0 lbs

I’ve been waiting all week to have a Friday freebie date night with the hubs at Starbucks since we both had these in our inboxes:

And they expired after today, so hopefully you can understand my short post today…since I spent the evening finding something like THIS at each nearby Starbucks:

And I was really pumped about getting caffeinated tonight! LOL

Hope your weekend is starting off better than mine!

Spending Freeze: Day 23

DAY 23: $1,693.78/ -2.0 lbs

Today was TOUGH!  I’ve been getting very little sleep, so I’m heading to bed early tonight.  I think my body needs it from all of these Body Revolution workouts.  I have been dragging and it’s not pretty.  I’ll still give ya a quick recap of my day today though…

Breakfast:  Super Green Smoothie and coffee with half and half

Lunch: Leftover Spiralized Carrot Rice Enchilada Bake…it is way too good reheated.

Dinner:  I was on my own for dinner tonight and I hate to admit it, but I just boiled 2 mini corn cobbettes from the freezer and that was my weird pathetic dinner.  What can I say, I’m tired and I like corn.  I almost took a picture and thought, “Nah, this is just strange.”

Oh man, we are so emotionally done with the freeze!  The hubs is struggling with not buying whatever food he wants and I just want fresh produce back.  I know realistically we could just buy things.  We even have a back up gift card just to stick to the “rules.” But with only a week left, we’re too close to give up.  So my “save” today is that I didn’t make a random stop at the grocery store and impulse buy even though I really wanted to for the hubs and really wanted to for myself.  I think maybe I just need a weekend.  So close!

I’m watching some tutorials tonight on how to edit this blog.  Everything is so new to me that I’m kinda flying by the seat of my pants.  I know I’ll figure it out eventually, but I’m glad I’m taking some learning steps today!

Okay, off to bed so I can get up early and DIE during Strength Workout 4 of Body Revolution tomorrow.  Sweet dreams!

Spending Freeze: (Earth) Day 22

DAY 22: $1,693.78/ -2.0 lbs

Happy Earth Day!  Yet another day in April with lots of good shopping deals that I’m missing out on. What was I thinking?  Instead of deal hunting, I went on another nature walk at lunch today.  It was so beautiful out!

Breakfast:  A Super Dark Green Smoothie (I used my frozen spinach cubes & added Spirulina)

Lunch:  The last of the Tortilla Soup leftovers

Dinner:  Steak n Shake with a gift card and coupons (Hmmm…and I’m not losing weight because??)

I haven’t calculated a “savings” amount on it yet, but since it’s Earth Day I thought I’d give a shout out to my new (to me) Prius.  This puppy saves me so much in gas money it pays for itself.  And on days like today, I kinda feel like I’m doing my part for the environment a little bit.  I usually take it through the car wash twice a month, but hadn’t this month due to the spending freeze.  It was getting dirty, but I noticed today that it seemed all clean again due to the crazy rain from a huge storm on Monday evening.  So FREE car wash!  Thanks, Mother Nature!

The hubs and I went to the mall tonight to try on expensive sunglasses that we obviously weren’t going to buy.  I don’t know why it was fun, but it felt good to be in the mall again!

Secret Serious Sunglass Hut Selfie!

What d’ya think?  Worth the $200?!

Spending Freeze: Day 21

DAY 21: $1,672.77/ -2.0 lbs

5K Training started today!  We’re adding in 3 running days on top of our Body Revolution workout plan…you know, just for fun.  So I worked out 3 times today kind of.  That’s one way to avoid spending money!

Breakfast:  Green Protein Smoothie, Coffee, and a Hard-Boiled Egg

Lunch: Leftover Tortilla Soup (and maybe a FREE Krispy Kreme donut that someone brought into work)

Dinner:  Chicken Tacos & Mexican Rice (I forgot I had avocados in the fridge!  I was so excited!)

SUPER savings today!! The hubs and I use our Southwest Rapid Rewards credit card for almost everything and pay it in full every month.  I know this doesn’t work for everybody, but it works for us and we “bought” 2 FREE flights home with our miles today!  The flight sale was only going on until Thursday so we wanted to take advantage before prices went back up.  So, thanks to our discipline with the credit card, we saved $543.00 dollars!

Another (smaller) savings today – the hubs and I picked up some reserved items from the library (for free of course).  We got 1 book, 1 audiobook, and 4 CDs to enjoy for the next 3 weeks.  That would’ve set us back $60 or so if we would’ve bought everything!  I love the library!

Should I put the library outing here too?  Actually, my enjoyable time was another nature walk today!  This time I captured a baby gators pic for ya:

Sweet Dreams!
