Spending Freeze: Day 27

DAY 27: $1,895.45 / -2.2 lbs

I feel like today is a pretty big deal day.  They say it takes 21 days for something to become a habit, and I have officially surpassed that amount of days of consistent early morning workouts!  I didn’t think it was possible.  I have maybe lasted 3 days in the past.  Something about the structure of the Spending Freeze and feeling accountable by posting on here everyday has really made the change easier.  I’m not even making excuses when my alarm goes off anymore.  This is HUGE!

EAT

Breakfast:  A new green smoothie.  With my reading last night (I finally finished Mockingjay!  I actually forgot I hadn’t ever finished it until I went to watch the DVD a little while ago.  Weird), I didn’t prep any green smoothies or any work snacks.  So this morning I grabbed my spinach ice cubes, frozen pineapple, Acai smoothie packs, goji berries, flax seed, chia seeds, and put some coconut water in 1 Magic Bullet cup and vanilla almond milk in another.  I threw them in my cooler bag and headed off to work.  I keep my old Magic Bullet at work just for this purpose.  They were perfect!

Dinner:  Stuffed Cordon Bleu Chicken Breasts with Corn on the Cob & Potato Cheddar Pierogies, all from the deep freeze.  I don’t know why we’ve been putting off trying these stuffed chicken breasts that I couponed a while ago.   They were great!

SAVE

Another weekend gone by without going out and without a big grocery trip.  I’m going to put my Uber budget ($50) savings up in the total because the month is almost over and we succeeded in not using it on this month’s weekends.  Obviously, if we are not going to the bar we will not need Uber, but normally we would so…SAVINGS! 

Also, the hubs remembered that he had some unused stuff to take back to Home Depot for the lawn mower repair, so we returned it tonight for $17.  I’m considering this a savings because I’d bet this stuff would normally just get stored in the garage without me knowing.  I love returning stuff for money, but the hubs some people would consider it a hassle.

I’m pretty sure the best part of my day was when a coworker told me my pants were baggy.  Today it’s not about the number on the scale…it’s about MY PANTS BEING BAGGY!!  Wooohoo!

Spending Freeze: Day 25

DAY 25: $1,757.53/ -2.2 lbs

Pretty happy that another week of Body Revolution is over and pretty happy to see a tiny weight loss today!  And really happy it’s Saturday!!

Now, please don’t judge too harshly. I don’t know what happened today, but I feel like we only had coffee and crap. Just being honest.

Breakfast: Coffee and leftover pizza

Lunch: Chicken Sandwiches and Chips

Dinner: Mocha Frappucinos (FREE from Staurbucks) and Five Guys (with a gift card)

Lots of savings today!

First off, we froze our gym memberships. Since we’re doing Body Revolution for the next 2 months and training for a 5-10K, we figured we didn’t “need” the gym for a while. This is saving us $55 per month.

Next, we hopped into Starbucks to see if they’d honor our freebie coupons from yesterday, since they had technical difficulties and closed early. (We found out the problem yesterday was actually nationwide. Yikes)!  The guy said he would try and it worked! He gave us the largest size since they were free…and now we might be up all night.

Finally, we had to get batteries for the hubs that he needed for the equipment for his gig tomorrow. This was an actual “need” but I still couponed it of course.  We headed to CVS, but needed to hit $15 to use my $5 off $15 coupon.  Enter the 90% Easter bin. I can’t believe the hubs found these…

…but he convinced me they would make hilarious gag gifts or whatever. Aaaaand it was kind of like getting them for free since they totaled $5 (marked down from $25 each).  So stupid, but oh well, it made his night!  We only spent $9 on the batteries and somehow our recipe showed this savings:

LOVE

The hubs and I had way too much fun going over the budget today.  It sounds so weird to say that, but there’s something about having a plan and the teamwork and the saving that is just really exciting. Not to mention the feeling of security knowing exactly where your money is going. And who wouldn’t be excited about that savings amount up there?!

Now we are super caffeinated and settled in watching Interstellar (thanks, brother)! It’s been a good day.

Spending Freeze: Day 24

DAY 24: $1,693.78/ -2.0 lbs

I’ve been waiting all week to have a Friday freebie date night with the hubs at Starbucks since we both had these in our inboxes:

Spending Freeze: Day 23

DAY 23: $1,693.78/ -2.0 lbs

Today was TOUGH!  I’ve been getting very little sleep, so I’m heading to bed early tonight.  I think my body needs it from all of these Body Revolution workouts.  I have been dragging and it’s not pretty.  I’ll still give ya a quick recap of my day today though…

EAT

Breakfast:  Super Green Smoothie and coffee with half and half

Lunch: Leftover Spiralized Carrot Rice Enchilada Bake…it is way too good reheated.

Dinner:  I was on my own for dinner tonight and I hate to admit it, but I just boiled 2 mini corn cobbettes from the freezer and that was my weird pathetic dinner.  What can I say, I’m tired and I like corn.  I almost took a picture and thought, “Nah, this is just strange.”

SAVE

Oh man, we are so emotionally done with the freeze!  The hubs is struggling with not buying whatever food he wants and I just want fresh produce back.  I know realistically we could just buy things.  We even have a back up gift card just to stick to the “rules.” But with only a week left, we’re too close to give up.  So my “save” today is that I didn’t make a random stop at the grocery store and impulse buy even though I really wanted to for the hubs and really wanted to for myself.  I think maybe I just need a weekend.  So close!

LOVE

I’m watching some tutorials tonight on how to edit this blog.  Everything is so new to me that I’m kinda flying by the seat of my pants.  I know I’ll figure it out eventually, but I’m glad I’m taking some learning steps today!

Okay, off to bed so I can get up early and DIE during Strength Workout 4 of Body Revolution tomorrow.  Sweet dreams!
