Spending Freeze: Day 16

DAY 16: $843.92 / -0.8 lbs (and probably +20.0 lbs tomorrow) 

Something has taken over my day, my thoughts, and my memory today… 

EAT 

Breakfast:  doesn’t matter because… 

Lunch: can’t remember because…. 

Dinner:  Buffalo Wild Wings!!!!!!!!!!!

  

It’s happening…

SAVE 

There were signs all day pointing me to Buffalo Wild Wings.  It was weird: 

1) I pulled out a B-Dubs logo wrapped fork/knife/napkin set from my plasticware stash to eat lunch with at work (oh the longing…) 

2) I ran across my B-Dubs $5 off coupon in my Inbox that I received for signing up for their promo e-mails (and started trying to figure out ways to make exceptions to the freeze…gasp!) 

3) I drove past the “Boneless Thursdays” lit sign on my commute (ugh!) 

4) The hubs brought up B-Dubs when I got home because he saw something on FaceBook.  (He’s really struggling with not eating out at all so these behaviors and comments usually go ignored) 

5) I was checking out the latest BankAmeriDeals for my debit card and Buffalo Wild Wings was there with a 10% cashback discount (are you kidding me!?) 

And then…

I received the most glorious e-mail in the world:

  

 

   

After lots of jumping up and down we called my mom to thank her for her “just because” gift.  She is seriously the best! 

We wanted to make sure we didn’t go over the gift card amount, so I very carefully calculated our food choices.  We used to go and easily spend over $50 by not planning ahead (and adding in beer).  This time, I took in consideration Boneless Thursday prices, the $5 off coupon, tax, and tipping 20% on the pre-discount total.  We also waited until 9:00 to get the $3 appetizers deal.  It worked out perfect until the hubs decided he needed a freakin’ lemonade!  LOL.  Oh well, I had a $2 bill (yep, for real) in my purse so threw that in to make sure we didn’t skimp on the tip.  This was such a treat AND we have leftovers!! This spending freeze might be making us crazy  though.  I don’t remember ever being this excited to eat out.

Spending Freeze: Day 15

DAY 15:  $813.92 / -0.8 lbs

Happy Tax Day!  I feel like I missed out on some really good Tax Day deals today though. Enough that I don’t think I’ll do an April Spending Freeze again!  Too bad I couldn’t find any freebies I could work with. I may do a little more looking online tonight.  

This morning’s Body Revolution cardio workout was a breeze!  I can’t believe I’m getting used to waking up so early.  It’s awesome going through the rest of the day knowing you’re “done.”

EAT

Breakfast:  Cinnamon Raisin Toast w/ a Café Mocha. I forgot to prep green smoothies last night, but remembered tonight, yay!  Unfortunately, this was the end of the romaine, so I’ll have to start getting creative.  

Lunch: Zucchini Noodles and Marinara. I’m so glad my work has a full kitchen.  I need to take advantage of it more because there really is no excuse for unhealthy eating, when I can whip this up in 5 minutes.

Dinner: Chicken & Veggie Egg Rolls (Once again, I had bigger dinner plans, but there were dishes to clean and put away and I just don’t like cooking it up in a messy kitchen. So I cleaned it, and then was too tired to make an effort. Oh well!)

My DIY K-Cups
 

I almost forgot to mention that I ran out of K-Cups!  Oh the devastation! Just kidding, we aren’t huge coffee drinkers, but I think we’ve increased our intake this month with the early morning workouts.  I have bags of coffee in my pantry stockpile, so I made my own K-Cups.  I could probably write a whole blog post on this.  (Maybe I will after the freeze)!  This is probably about a $6.99 savings because I usually use a coupon.

I’m not sure how lame this sounds, but I’ve been sitting on the sofa for the last hour watching YouTube videos. I’m so relaxed. I don’t know why I tend to feel guilty for “wasting time” but I didn’t let it get to me tonight. I was missing my YouTubers!  I’ve already worked out, the house is clean, I’m not at a bar and I’m not spending money, so I think I’m okay.  Right!?

Spending Freeze: Day 14

DAY 14:  $806.93 / -0.8 lbs

Today went by so fast that I don’t feel like I can successfully summarize.  Wake up, workout, work, taxes, dinner, clean, bed.  Bleh. 

EAT

Breakfast:  Growing Green Smoothie, Coconut Coffee, & Lemon Water (I haven’t done lemon water all month!  I thought maybe bringing it back into my mornings might help the weight loss move along or at least fill me with benefits)

Lunch:  Penne & Vodka Sauce

Dinner:  

  

Cheese Tortellini & Tomato Sauce (I know, pasta twice today.  We had planned on scallops, salad, & couscous, but the scallops were far from thawed and this was just easier, dang it!)

I filed my taxes today! YAY!  Wow, it was really boring.  But, doing it myself saved me about $130.  I get them done so much faster by myself (and when I wait until the last minute).  I’m actually really glad I waited this year because now I have a solid budget in place and this “refund” will not be wasted.  

  

I don’t know if I love or am freaked out that I got a text message from the government…

LOVE

While in my studio working on my taxes, I also managed to clean out my old coupons and catch up on organizing my new inserts.  Having my coupon system up to date and organized makes me so happy.  Plus, I’m more likely to use my coupons to their full potential and save more money when they are all in place.  Or in tonight’s case, save my mom money by clipping and mailing her four of her fave $5 ones.  Hope they make it to her before they expire.  Keep your eye out, Mom!

Spending Freeze: Day 13

DAY 13$676.93 / -0.8 lbs

Still woke up early for my morning Body Revolution workout today, still no change in weight today.  Yet I’m still not too discouraged because I am slowly feeling more “fit.”  Looking back at last week’s meals and snacks, I realized I was really skimping on my fruits and veggies.  I think I was more concerned with just eating anything we had instead of actually thinking about what my body needed.  I’m going to try to regroup on that this week and see if it helps the lbs drop at all.  Starting with my green smoothies!

EAT

Breakfast:  Protein Shake, Glowing Green Smoothie, and a Macchiato 😉

Lunch:  the pre-prepped Penne and Vodka Sauce (I was invited out to lunch today and, being unsure of whether they were paying or not, I declined)

Dinner:  Caesar Salad with Homemade Garlic Croutons and Leftover Pizza (I prepped and FoodSaver sealed all of my romaine heads into jars on Sunday so a salad was super convenient today…until the hubs broke the first jar he tried to open…and glass went into the lettuce…so lettuce went into trash).

The hubs needed a new speaker thing for work, so he took a bunch of stuff to the pawn shop today and used the money to buy the speaker online. (I’m not sure how to add this savings into the total yet, so am leaving it alone for now). He even showed me how he price compared on Google Shopping for the best deal with free accessories and no shipping costs!  I’m truly proud.  This is two savings days in a row for him!

I made a pretty modified and weak version of my Granny’s “Scrambles” tonight.  While I could only use what we had in the pantry, it still made me smile just thinking of her while cooking from her recipe.  🙂

Spending Freeze: Day 12

DAY 12: $676.93 / -0.8 lbs

REST DAY!  The day we’ve been waiting for…and I’ve still logged 15,319 steps today!?  I guess it just happens. I’ve cleaned the house, done laundry, and meal prepped.  Housework really is a workout!  Now, I really am relaxing and down for the night.  Hopefully, I’ll sleep like a baby and be rested enough to start Body Revolution Week 2 tomorrow.   

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I tried another bread machine recipe today:

Breakfast:  I was making a pot of penne and vodka sauce to have for this week’s lunches…maybe I ate some…maybe that counts as breakfast. 

Lunch:  Slow Cooker Lentil Soup (tons left over for the week)

Dinner:  Homemade Pepperoni Pizza (leftover dough from last night, so why not?)

The hubs spent the whole afternoon fixing the lawn mower.  I can’t believe I didn’t get a pic, but it was intense out there.  We knew the mower had issues two weeks ago, so we budgeted for a repair and temporary lawn service.  But that $100 is moving to savings because he fixed it! It was very manly. Lol. 

LOVE

At the end of the day the hubs built a fire outside in the fire pit. We sat around it for a little bit while he played ukulele and I read a cookbook. It was perfect.
